Privacy Policy
The short version: your screenshots never leave your device. The only personal data we hold is an email address, and only if you chose to join the waitlist.

Your images stay on your device
This is the most important thing on this page, so it goes first. Screenlyst never uploads, receives, stores or sees the images you edit.
The editor runs entirely in your browser. When you add a screenshot, it is read by your own browser, rendered on a canvas by your own device, and exported by your own device. There is no server involved in that process, and no request carrying your image is ever sent to us or to anyone else.
This also means we cannot recover your work, see what you made, or help you retrieve a file you have lost. That is the trade-off of keeping it private.
What is stored in your browser
So that a refresh or a closed tab does not destroy your work, the editor saves a draft of whatever you are editing into IndexedDB, a storage area belonging to your browser on your own computer.
- This draft includes the image you added and the settings you chose.
- It is stored only on that device, in that browser. It is never sent to us and we cannot read it.
- It is automatically discarded after seven days, and immediately whenever you choose a different image or dismiss the restore prompt.
- You can remove it yourself at any time by clearing site data for this site in your browser settings.
The waitlist, if you join it
Joining the waitlist is entirely optional and is the only place we ask you for personal data. If you submit the form, we store:
- your email address;
- which part of the site you submitted it from, so we know what is working;
- whether you are subscribed or unsubscribed, and the dates the record was created and last changed.
We use this for one purpose: to email you about Screenlyst — principally to tell you when Pro is available. We do not sell, rent or share this list, and we do not use it for unrelated marketing.
You can ask us to remove your address at any time by emailing hello@pixelwallbd.com. We will delete the record rather than merely flagging it.
Analytics
We use PostHog to understand how the site is used — for example, how many people opened the editor. It records page views and basic technical information such as the type of browser and the approximate region derived from your IP address.
Analytics is configured so that visitors are not given an identity profile unless they are explicitly identified, and we never identify you. In practice that means these measurements are not tied to you as a named person.
Analytics never receives your images — the editor does not have any mechanism to send them anywhere. If you prefer to opt out entirely, browser-level tracking protection or an ad blocker will stop these requests, and the editor will keep working exactly as before.
Who else is involved
We keep the number of third parties small. The ones that can hold data on our behalf are:
- MongoDB — stores the waitlist records described above.
- Resend — sends the waitlist confirmation email and notifies us of a new signup. It processes your email address to deliver those messages.
- PostHog — the analytics described above.
- Our hosting provider — serves the site and keeps standard server logs, which may include IP addresses for a limited period for security and reliability.
The Product Hunt badge on the home page is an image loaded from Product Hunt, which means your browser makes a request to them when that image loads.
Your rights
Where the law gives you rights over personal data — including under the UK and EU GDPR — you can ask us to provide a copy of what we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or stop using it. Since the only personal data we hold is a waitlist email address, in practice this is usually a quick request.
Email hello@pixelwallbd.com and we will respond within 30 days.
How long we keep things
Waitlist records are kept until you ask us to delete them, or until the waitlist is no longer relevant. Editor drafts expire from your own browser after seven days. Analytics data is retained according to PostHog's own retention settings.
Children
Screenlyst is a general-purpose design tool and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has submitted an email address to us, contact us and we will remove it.
Changes to this policy
If we change how any of this works, we will update this page and the date at the top. If a change materially affects people on the waitlist, we will say so by email.
